Small changes can save you from diabetes.

1 in 3 US adults have prediabetes, which is when blood glucose (sugar) levels in

your blood are higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed with diabetes. Prediabetes can lead to the development of type 2 diabetes and increase the risk of other serious health problems. If you have prediabetes, this does not mean that you will develop diabetes, YOU can reduce your risk by eating smarter, becoming more physically active, and reducing stress.

Life in 24 is a part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) that helps you change your lifestyle to prevent you from developing type 2 diabetes. Past participants in the program have cut their risk of getting type 2 diabetes by more than HALF. With the help of a trained lifestyle coach and the support of a small group of people, you will reach your goals to work towards a healthier future. Classes focus on how to make better food choices, become more physically active, and find ways to manage problems and stress. By eating healthier and increasing physical activity, you can lose 5 to 7 percent of your body weight – that is 10 to 14 pounds for a person weighing 200 pounds.

Life in 24 is a 16-week program, followed by monthly support sessions to help you maintain your skills and changes for a total of 24, 1-hour, sessions. 24 hours of classes is all it takes for you to gain the knowledge and tools you need to make better, life-changing choices. There’s fun to be had with activities, prizes, and surprises along the way to encourage you to stick with it!

Programs are located in Siler City and Pittsboro.
