The mission of the Youth Services department is to provide resources that meet the educational, recreational, and informational needs of Chatham County youth and the adults who care for them.
Youth Services staff are committed to welcoming and serving all children, teens, and caregivers as valued library users. In support of the Chatham County Public Libraries' broader mission, we provide many free programs, events, and services for youth and caregivers. Youth can get help with their homework or take part in summer reading challenges. We offer story times based on early literacy best practices for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. We also offer educational and recreational programs for school aged children and teens. We support parents, caregivers, teachers, and local and County agency employees in their work with Chatham County youth.

Services to children and their caregivers are an important component of the Libraries' mission. At the Chatham Community Library, Wren Memorial Library, and Goldston Library, we are here to help children and caregivers find just the right books to share or the perfect resource for a homework assignment. We also provide opportunities for story time, book clubs, and other activities that connect children and their caregivers to their communities and to each other.
Teens are integral members of our community!
Chatham County Public Libraries offer services, programs, and opportunities designed just for them. From weekly hangouts to monthly gaming sessions, and lots more in between, we encourage teens to join us as they CONNECT, LEARN, and GROW.
