Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) programs educate individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their community and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search & rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT volunteers can assist their families and neighbors following a disaster until professional responders arrive. CERT volunteers are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking an active role in emergency preparedness projects.
Chatham County CERT holds a general meeting the 4th Wednesday of each month at the Chatham County EOC unless otherwise indicated. General meetings are open to anyone interested in learning more about CERT.
