Virtual Summer Reading Challenge: Imagine Your Story!

2020 Virtual Summer Reading Program

Post Date:05/26/2020 9:00 AM

Chatham County Public Libraries invite children and teens to participate in our Virtual Summer Reading Challenge “Imagine Your Story!” with Chatham County Public Libraries from June 15 through August 1, 2020.

The Virtual Summer Reading Challenge, sponsored by the Friends of the Chatham Community Library, is open to children and teens, ages 2 and up. Readers will participate online this year by signing up on the libraries’ Beanstack site (https://chathamnc.beanstack.org - the site goes live on Monday, June 15) and win prizes for completing 10 hours of reading. Using Beanstack, readers can log their time and titles online, as well as create book reviews for others to see. All readers who reach the 10-hour goal will earn a free book and will be entered into a Grand Prize drawing for a $50 Gift Certificate to a local or online bookseller.

The Virtual Summer Reading Challenge kicks off online on June 15, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with a performance by Alina Celeste and Mi Amigo Hamlet of the Being Bilingual Rocks Foundation.  This is a family friendly show for children of ALL ages. The kickoff event will be available virtually on the Chatham County Public Libraries’ official YouTube channel: https://tinyurl.com/YouTubeCCPL.

Chatham County Public Libraries are grateful for the support of the Friends of the Chatham Community Library, a nonprofit group of volunteers dedicated to promoting the library as a valuable and vital community resource. Visit their website, http://www.friendsccl.org, for more information.

Special events will be presented online throughout the summer. Be sure to visit our website, www.chathamlibraries.org, or contact Youth Services at (919) 545-8085 or youth.services@chathamlibraries.org for more information.
