Information for May 18th Chatham County Board of Commissioners Meeting

Post Date:05/12/2020 9:05 AM

PITTSBORO, NC – The May 18, 2020, 6:00 p.m. regular meeting of the Chatham County Board of Commissioners will be held at the Chatham County Agriculture and Conference Center located at 1192 US 64 Business West, Pittsboro, N.C. Please note that due to mass gathering restrictions as outlined in the Governor’s Executive Order 138, public seating will be limited; however, the meeting will be livestreamed at www.TaJTalk.com and https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=tajtalk.com.

Because mass gatherings are restricted to ten people, there will be room for about 40 residents to attend the meeting in overflow rooms at the Agriculture and Conference Center. Seats will be arranged six feet apart to comply with social distancing protocols. The meeting will be displayed in each overflow room, and residents who have signed up to speak will be called one at a time to come to the meeting room to give their comments to the Board. Once public seating is full, residents will be asked to remain outside the building, where they must remain at least six feet apart at all times.

If there are any residents who plan to address the Board during the Public Input Session at the May 18th 6:00 p.m. meeting, they can sign up to speak by filling out the online form found at https://chathamnc.seamlessdocs.com/f/PublicInput or by signing up at the Agriculture and Conference Center from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on May 18th. Anyone who cannot attend the meeting may email their comments to Clerk to the Board Lindsay Ray at lindsay.ray@chathamnc.org, and those comments will be included in the official minutes of the meeting. The Public Input Session is held to give citizens an opportunity to speak on any item, with the exception of public hearing items. The Board allows 30 minutes for the public input session to allow as many as possible to speak. Speakers are limited to no more than three minutes each and may not give their time to another speaker. If residents have insufficient time to finish their comments or if the public input session concludes before residents are able to give their comments, we welcome their comments in writing and those comments will be included in the official meeting minutes.

There will also be a public hearing to receive public comment on the recommended budget for FY2020-2021. Any resident wishing to speak on the budget should sign up by completing the form found at https://chathamnc.seamlessdocs.com/f/PublicInput or by signing up at the Agriculture and Conference Center from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on May 18th. Anyone who cannot attend the meeting may email their comments to Clerk to the Board Lindsay Ray at lindsay.ray@chathamnc.org, and those comments will be included in the official minutes of the meeting.

The agenda will be posted on the County website on Thursday, May 14, 2020.
