Chatham County Parks and Recreation: Playgrounds and Restrooms are Closed Effective March 24, 2020
PITTSBORO, NC – The safety of Chatham County staff, volunteers, guests and community members is a top priority, and Chatham County Parks and Recreation is taking appropriate action to limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Effective March 24, 2020, all Chatham County Parks and Recreation playgrounds and restrooms are closed until further notice. The areas surrounding playground equipment including greenways, walking trails, or other amenities of open spaces are still available for use.
Residents are not to use parks or trails if they are exhibiting symptoms of illness, and those who are well are asked to continue social distancing practices of remaining six feet from other people at all times.
All youth and adult athletics, instructional classes, open gym and reservations are cancelled until further notice.
Easter Egg Hunt
Chatham County Parks and Recreation’s annual Easter Egg Hunt, The Egg Scramble, scheduled for April 4, 2020, has been cancelled. Due to Governor Cooper’s statewide stay-at-home order, Parks & Rec cannot distribute the eggs to the public in the parks as originally planned. We are sorry for any inconvenience. We look forward to seeing everyone next year at The Egg Scramble!
Chatham County Senior Games
The 2020 Senior Games and Silver Arts competition will be postponed until further notice. The Chatham County Council on Aging hopes to have further updates by mid-April. Until then, please visit https://chathamcouncilonaging.org/activities/senior-games/ for more information. The Chatham County Parks and Recreation Practice Series that was scheduled for April 6-9 will also be postponed and rescheduled according to the rescheduled dates of the Senior Games.
