Sheriff’s Office to Hold Raffle, Chicken Tender Fundraiser

Post Date:06/03/2019

On Friday, June 7th, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with community members and the Goldston Fire Department to host a Chicken Tender Fundraiser to support Special Olympics North Carolina.

The event begins at 11 AM and ends at 7 PM at the Goldston Fire Department. Meals are available for dine-in or drive-thru customers and delivery options are available during lunch hours (by pre-order only).

“We are asking for an $8 donation per plate,” says Sheriff’s Office Special Olympics Coordinator Captain Chris Cooper. “This covers basic expenses and contributes roughly $5.50 per plate to support Special Olympics NC. It’s a great opportunity to support a worthwhile cause while enjoying a delicious, locally-prepared meal.”

This fundraiser follows on the heels of several successful Special Olympics events this year, including a Polar Plunge, Charity Golf Tournament, and Prize Raffle. A winning ticket for the custom-designed Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Pedal Car, which has been on display at the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office since April, will be drawn on location following the event.

“The Chatham County community has been hugely supportive of our efforts to support Special Olympics NC since we began in 2016,” says Sheriff Mike Roberson. “We want to thank our local sponsors, volunteers, and deputies for their commitment and contributions toward making this another successful fundraising year.”

“In 2019, Chatham County has raised approximately $40,000.00 to support Special Olympics NC,” says Cooper. “The Chicken Tender Fundraiser will be our last big fundraising push for 2019, so we are hoping to finish strong for our athletes. Every little bit helps!”

Volunteer positions are still available to anyone hoping to get involved with the event, including positions as delivery drivers for those ordering in advance. Interested volunteers should contact Captain Chris Cooper at or by phone at 919.545.8189.

Meal tickets ($8 each) and raffle tickets ($5 each) for the custom pedal car are also available for purchase at the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office at 295 West Street, Pittsboro, through June 6th.
