Deputies Locate Missing Child
On January 30, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address off of Staley Snow Camp Road, Siler City, in reference to a missing child. Deputies immediately began a search for the missing 4-year-old, who had vanished from his front lawn just prior to 4 PM, and put out a reverse 911 alert to ask members of the public in the area to be on the lookout.
Deputies quickly located the child in the woods less than a half mile from the residence.
“I am proud of our deputies for their teamwork and coordinated efforts to locate and return the missing child,” says Sheriff Mike Roberson. “With temperatures dropping and nightfall approaching, this could have been a recipe for disaster. Instead, the boy was returned to his family uninjured and in safe condition.”
Sheriff Roberson also expressed gratitude toward the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and Randolph County Sheriff’s Office for dispatching additional resources as well as Chatham County Emergency Management for their assistance during the search.
