Suspect Breaks Into Residence, Swaps Shoes
On September 20, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office received a report of breaking and entering into a residence off of NC Highway 751, Durham. Only one item appeared to be missing from the residence: a pair of shoes valued at approximately $150.00. In place of the stolen shoes, the suspect left behind his own used pair.
The used shoes were recognized and linked back to their owner, Leon Kentrell Council IV, 21, of 707 Drew Street, Durham, who is a former roommate of the victim. When he failed to return the shoes, Council was charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny after breaking and entering. He was arrested by the Durham Police Department and jailed under a $10,000.00 secured bond. Council is due to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on February 4.
