Local Food Resources Can Help in Times of Need

Post Date:01/16/2019 3:48 PM

NOTE:  The local food resouces document below has been revised to reflect recent changes.

Staff working with the Chatham Health Alliance and the Public Health Department have collected information on Chatham County organizations that can help people get food when they are in need. This includes food pantries and organizations that periodically serve meals. This is a very timely resource when some of our residents will experience impacts of the federal government shutdown.

  • Some federal employees are furloughed or on the job without pay.
  • Local residents receiving food & nutrition benefits (SNAP) also could see these funds dry up in February. We remind SNAP recipients that the February food & nutrition benefits will be available on January 20, but this may have to last the entire month of February.

If you know of a group located in Chatham that is not on the list below, please call Jenny at 919-545-8332.
