Home Invasion Sparks “Soft” Lockdown
Shortly after 9 AM, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a home invasion in the 500 block of River Forest Road, Pittsboro. Two masked suspects allegedly broke into a residence and held up a victim with a small handgun. The suspects are also accused of stealing items from the home while the victim was tied up. No injuries were reported and the victim did not require medical attention.
Authorities are now looking for two male suspects. One suspect is described as wearing a blue Nike sweatshirt with a white Nike logo on the chest. The second suspect is described as wearing a black Nike sweatshirt with a white Nike logo and black pants. No further suspect descriptions are available at this time.
Investigators do not consider the invasion a random act nor do deputies have reason to believe the suspects are still in the area. However, due to the close proximity of the incident to Perry Harrison Elementary School, responding deputies immediately notified school officials who opted to initiate a temporary “soft” lockdown. No threats were made toward students and the lockdown has since been lifted by school administrators.
The investigation remains ongoing and additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
