Council on Aging Seeks Items for Auction to Reduce Services Waiting List

Post Date:07/11/2018 12:11 PM

The Chatham County Council on Aging currently has a waiting list for both Meals on Wheels and In-Home Aide Personal Care, both vital services for aging residents who need access to prepared food and personal care needs.

For example, an older couple in Siler City, both with health issues, does not have a relative nearby to provide regular help with meals.  In another household, a husband with health issues  needs in-home aides to help with bathing, grooming and other personal care, but no family members are in the area to provide this help.

The Council on Aging is planning an online auction to begin on September 1, 2018 that will go directly toward reducing the waiting list for these services. You can help by:

A. Donate one or more items for the auction no later than August 30, 2018

Quality items are greatly needed.  Suggestions include: artwork, pottery, timeshares, vacations, massages, tours, tickets, gift baskets, collectibles, and special decor items. , Gift cards for salons, massages, spa treatments, restaurants. hotels, online vendors, etc. also are appreciated.  Think about things that have attractive value.    Contact the Council on Aging at 919-542-4512 or email

 B.  Bid and buy items once the auction starts

The Council on Aging will have a link to the auction on their website at once the bidding begins.

C.  Donate funds directly for these service

The Council on Aging accepts funds anytime to support its many critical services.
