Propane Salesman Accused of Obtaining Property by False Pretense
On February 13, a victim contacted the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office after purchasing propane from Glenn Albert Gibson, 56, of 9 Laurel Lane, Youngsville, NC, who operates under the company name “Propane Club of America, Inc.” According to the victim, on January 18, 2018, Gibson agreed to deliver a filled, 330-pound propane tank to the victim’s residence on January 24. The victim supplied Gibson with financial card information in order to cover the cost of the product and delivery.
However, on January 23, Gibson allegedly claimed to have problems processing the card, and insisted on a cash payment instead. The victim paid Gibson the same amount in cash, but never received the delivery. Gibson was subsequently charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense.
Gibson was arrested by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and assigned a $20,000.00 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on May 21.
