Grand Trees of Chatham Hosting a Winter Tree Hike on February 25

Grand Trees of Chatham will host a Winter Tree Identification Hike at White Pines Nature Preserve on Sunday, February 25, at 1:00 PM. Andy Upshaw and Phil Cox will lead the hike, which focuses on identifying some of the beautiful trees and other natural features at White Pines. The hike is about two miles long and is moderately strenuous.The White Pines Nature Preserve is a beautiful natural area with amazing trees--We hope you can join us for the hike!

IMPORTANT:  Pets and children under age five are not allowed for this hike. Please wear footwear and clothing appropriate for dirt trails and the cold.

INCLEMENT WEATHER:  In case of bad weather (rain, snow), the hike will be cancelled. In this case, we will attempt to email registrants. We will also post the cancellation on the Grand Trees of Chatham FaceBook page, so please check there if the weather looks questionable:

DIRECTIONS:  White Pines Preserve is located just past the Rocky River heading south from Pittsboro on US 15-501. Take the first left onto River Forks Road after crossing the Rocky River. River Forks Road is circular, so please make make sure you turn left.  The preserve is at the end of a small gravel/dirt road that comes off River Forks Road. Look for the sign marking the Preserve. Parking is at the end of the road. The address is 548 S Rocky River Rd, Sanford, NC. More information can be found here:
