June 7- Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Pittsboro man on drug charges last week after investigating a suspicious person off of Carolina Hill Road in Central Chatham County. Corporal David Scott and Sergeant Joseph Reece investigated the subject after seeing him on the side of the road. The officers later found a kilo of cocaine where the subject had previously been standing and seized the drugs and arrested the subject. Deputies also seized $683.00 in cash. The drugs have a street value of $18,000.00.
James Crawford Lane III, 31, of 6409 US 15-501 North, Pittsboro was arrested and charged with Felonious Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine, Felonious Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, and Felonious Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substances. He was jailed under a $500,000.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on July 26.
