• Progress Energy, serving major portions of Chatham County. Call 508-5400 or 800-452-2777to report outages. The company has a fund to help needy residents cover their energy bills, Project Share, and a program to provide fans in the hot months to elderly and disabled residents.
• Randolph Electric Cooperative, serving rural areas in the northwest and southwest corners of the county, (800) 672-8212. To report outages, call 1-877-736-2633.

Natural Gas

• PSNC Energy, serving the more populated areas of the county. For customer service and to report gas leaks, call 1-877-776-2427. The company supports a Salvation Army program, Heat Care, to help low-income residents pay heating bills.
