In 2009, the Chatham County Board of Commissioners and Cary Town Council appointed a Joint Issues Committee to work on developing a Joint Land Use Plan for the area of Chatham County east of Jordan Lake and north of White Oak Creek.

At their May meeting, the Joint Issues Committee officially endorsed the Joint Land Use Plan Map and Document for adoption by the Board of Commissioners and Town Council. The Joint Land Use Plan is scheduled for adoption by the Board of Commissioners at their meeting on June 18, 2012 and by the Town Council at their meeting on June 28, 2012.

Next Meeting:
June 6, 2012: The Chatham County/Town of Cary Joint Issues Committee have scheduled a meeting for June 6th from 9:00 - 11:00a.m. to review and discuss an Interlocal Agreement to be adopted by the Board of Commissioners and Town Council with the Joint Land Use Plan. The meeting will take place at the Town of Cary Fire Station #7, located at 6900 Carpenter Fire Station Road in Cary. Click here for a vicinity map.

May 8, 2012: The Chatham County/Town of Cary Joint Issues Committee met in Pittsboro from 9:00-11:00a.m. The committee endorsed the Joint Land Use Plan for adoption by the governing boards and discussed the framework for an Interlocal Agreement to be adopted by the Board of Commissioners and Town Council.
April 12, 2012: The Chatham County/Town of Cary Joint Issues Committee met in the Town Council Chambers in the Cary Town Hall to review the comments from the public hearings and the recommendations from the planning boards.
