Chatham County has a 24-hour Illegal Dumping Hotline, 919-542-0502.
You can leave a message to report illegal dumping of garbage, tires, appliances or unauthorized use of a dumpster anytime by calling that number. Our Environmental Enforcement Officer will respond to your complaint. For best results when reporting illegal dumping, please include a vehicle license plate number if possible.
Other duties of Environmental Enforcement include:

- Organization of community clean-up projects
- Management of community service projects through Adult Probation Community Service Work Program
