The Chatham County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has scheduled initial meetings of three committees focused on the attraction of businesses, retention of businesses, and entrepreneurship. Each one has a critical role in implementing the county’s economic development strategic plan.
“We especially need people to serve on the committees with expertise and commitment to attracting and retaining businesses or promoting entrepreneurial businesses. The committees have important work to do and will be meeting on a regular basis,” said Dianne Reid, president of the EDC. Individuals interested in serving should attend one of the upcoming meetings:
- Attraction Committee: Tuesday, Feb. 3 , 7 pm, Briar Chapel Clubhouse, 1600 Briar Chapel Parkway, across from the Briar Chapel sales office.
- Entrepreneurship Committee: Thursday, Feb. 5, 7 pm, at the same location above.
- Retention Committee: Thursday, Feb. 12, 7 pm, Bestfood Cafeteria, 218 East 11th Street (US 64 Business), Siler City
The committees will focus on the priority recommendations identified during the EDC’s countywide Economic Summit. They are charged with developing specific action steps required to achieve the short-term and intermediate goals in the strategic plan.
