The Chatham County Public Health Department works to support the Chatham County Public Schools in providing quality health education programs and health promotion activities to Chatham County Schools’ staff, students, and families.
We work toward the CDC’s model of “coordinated school health” which can be found at: http://www.cdc.gov/HealthyYouth/shi/index.htm. This model guides us to recognize and coordinate the main aspects of school-based health promotion, from nursing and clinical services to health education and staff wellness programming. By strengthening and coordinating our efforts, we will create school environments that help students live healthier and achieve more.
