Stolen Mercedes, Financial Checks Recovered by Deputies
On August 16, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen motor vehicle from the Serenity Hill Circle area of the Briar Chapel community. The suspect left a note at the crime scene warning the victim not to call police to report the theft.
The stolen 2000 Mercedes S430 was spotted by deputies patrolling 15-501 North near Bynum. After a vehicle pursuit, the suspect fled on foot. Deputies were able to identify the driver as Tucker Chelly Frey, 22, of 143 Stoneybrook Court, Apt. 5, Boone, NC. Investigators also recovered checks inside the vehicle belonging to a second victim.
Frey is charged with one felony count of larceny of a motor vehicle, two felony counts of possession of stolen property, two felony counts of larceny of chose in action, two counts of communicating threats, one misdemeanor count of possession of stolen property, and one count of larceny. He was assigned a $20,000.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on October 23.
