Memorial Service Slated for First Responders on September 9th
AN INVITATION TO HONOR FIRST RESPONDERS
September 9, 2017, 10:00 AM
On September 11, 2001, vicious attacks by terrorists killed a total of 2,996 people. Of those, 403 were first responders. Lives lost at the World Trade Center included 343 New York City firefighters, 23 New York City police officers and 37 Port Authority officers.
Sixteen years later, events across the nation pay tribute to the unselfish actions and courage of those first responders. This same level of sacrifice is played out daily in local communities as first responders put their lives on the line to help people in need.
Chatham County residents are invited to a memorial service honoring first responders on September 9, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Chatham County 911 First Responders Memorial, which is located next to the County Justice Center in Pittsboro and across the street from Pittsboro Fire Station 1. This event is intended to honor those who sacrificed their lives on September 11, 2001 and our own first responders who have died in the past year.
