Sheriff’s Office Recovers Stolen Firearms
On June 26, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a larceny off of Silk Hope Liberty Road in Siler City. Among the items listed stolen were multiple firearms, which were later linked to Seth McCoy, 22, of 161 Forrest Road, Carthage. McCoy was a former roommate of the victim and is accused of taking the property and selling it to a third party.
McCoy was arrested on August 7 and investigators were able to recover two stolen firearms and return them to the victim. McCoy is charged with three counts of felony larceny of a firearm, three counts of felony possession of a stolen firearm, misdemeanor larceny, possession of stolen property, and felony obtaining property by false pretense. He was jailed under a $2,500.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on August 13.
