Two Men Charged in Multiple Break-Ins
In May, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports of breaking and entering in Goldston. Suspects appeared to target tools and copper wiring during the break-ins. Investigators were able to link Zane Warren Massie, 27, of 524 Olivia Black Road, Goldston, and Freddy Jason Valdez, 28, of 6132 Lemon Springs Road, Sanford, to the break-ins through surveillance footage. Multiple stolen items were recovered from Massie’s possession for return to their rightful owner.
Massie and Valdez are each charged with three counts of felony breaking and entering, three counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering, and two counts of injury to real property. Massie is additionally charged with felony possession of stolen property.
Massie and Valdez were arrested by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Each was assigned a $25,000.00 secured bond. They are scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on July 16.
